Everything you should know about saving TikTok videos

Why the watermark matters more than people think

TikTok burns a moving watermark into every video exported through the app: the logo drifts around the frame so it cannot be cropped out, and your username sits alongside it. That is fine when you are resharing inside TikTok, but it ruins the clip everywhere else. Upload a watermarked file to Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts and the platform's own recommendation systems treat it as recycled third-party content, which is a well-documented drag on reach.

Grabnode asks TikTok for the source rendition rather than the app export, so the frame comes back clean. That also means slightly better picture quality: the app export is re-compressed on your phone, while the source file is the one TikTok's own web player streams.

Vertical video, bitrate and what 'HD' really means here

Almost every TikTok is 1080x1920 at 30fps, but the bitrate varies enormously. A talking-head clip may sit around 2 Mbps while a fast-cut dance video with heavy motion can be four times that. When TikTok exposes more than one rendition we list them all, so you can take the biggest file for editing or a smaller one for a quick share.

If the download looks softer than it did in the app, the cause is nearly always the upload itself. TikTok re-encodes on ingest, and a video that was already compressed before it was posted cannot be recovered by any downloader.

Sounds, slideshows and the awkward cases

TikTok audio is a first-class object on the platform, which is why we surface an MP3 option when the post has an extractable track. It is the fastest way to keep a sound you want to reference later, though remember the music itself is usually licensed to the rights holder, not to the creator who used it.

Photo slideshows are the one format that behaves unpredictably. TikTok sometimes publishes a rendered video version of a slideshow and sometimes only the stills; the extractor returns whichever exists rather than inventing a file. Live streams are never available while they are broadcasting.

TikTok downloader FAQ

How do I download a TikTok video without the watermark?

Paste the TikTok link above. Grabnode lists a no-watermark MP4 alongside the standard version — pick the no-watermark row and the file saves clean, with no TikTok logo bouncing across the frame.

Do I need the TikTok app or an account?

No. Everything runs in your browser. You never sign in, and Grabnode never sees your TikTok account.

What quality do TikTok downloads come in?

TikTok serves vertical 1080x1920 for most uploads. Grabnode returns the highest rendition TikTok exposes for that video, plus smaller variants when the source has them.

Can I save just the TikTok sound as MP3?

Yes. When the post has an extractable audio track, an MP3 option appears next to the video files so you can keep the sound on its own.

Do vm.tiktok.com and share links work?

Yes. Short vm.tiktok.com and vt.tiktok.com links, full tiktok.com/@user/video/… URLs and links copied from the share sheet are all accepted.

Can I download TikTok photo slideshows?

Slideshow posts are handled when TikTok publishes a video rendition of them. If only still images exist, the extractor returns what is available rather than a video file.

Why did my TikTok link fail?

The post is most likely private, from a private account, deleted, or region-restricted. If it does not play in a logged-out browser window, it cannot be extracted.

Is downloading TikTok videos legal?

Saving your own TikToks is fine. For other creators' videos, keep it to personal use or get permission — reuploading someone else's work breaches TikTok's terms and copyright law.
