Everything you should know about saving Facebook Reels videos

Facebook Reels sit between Instagram and TikTok

Meta runs Reels across both Facebook and Instagram, but Facebook's version accepts a wider range of source material — a lot of Facebook Reels are cross-posts, re-uploads or clips lifted from Pages, which means the quality you can download varies far more than on Instagram.

Typical output is a vertical MP4 around 1080x1920, though re-uploaded clips are often noticeably lower because they were already compressed before they arrived.

Getting a link that actually works

Facebook produces several link shapes for the same Reel: facebook.com/reel/…, a share URL, an fb.watch short link and a permalink with a story ID. All of them are accepted. What does not work is a link copied while you were logged in to a post that is not public — the URL looks normal but the content is gated.

The quickest check is a logged-out browser window. If the Reel plays there, it will extract.

Watermarks and cross-posting

Facebook Reels shared out of the app can carry a username overlay burned into the frame by whoever created them. That is part of the video data, not a layer we can peel off — no tool can remove it without cropping or painting over the pixels.

If you plan to repost a Reel you made yourself, export it from your own editing app rather than downloading the published version; you will get a cleaner frame and a higher bitrate.

Facebook Reels downloader FAQ

How do I download a Facebook Reel?

Tap the share icon on the Reel, choose Copy link, then paste it above. Grabnode returns the vertical MP4 at the resolution Facebook publishes.

Do Facebook Reels download without a watermark?

Grabnode adds nothing to the file. Reels cross-posted from Instagram or TikTok may carry that platform's burned-in watermark.

Can I download Reels from a page I do not follow?

Yes, as long as the page and the Reel are public. Following is irrelevant.

What resolution are Facebook Reels?

Usually 1080x1920 vertical. Facebook re-encodes uploads, so lower variants such as 720x1280 also appear in the results list.

Do fb.watch links work?

Yes. Short fb.watch links, full facebook.com/reel/… URLs and share-sheet links are all accepted.

Can I extract the audio from a Reel?

Yes. When the Reel has a soundtrack, an MP3 option is listed next to the video files.

Why did my Reel link fail?

The Reel is probably restricted to friends, has been deleted, or is region-locked. If it does not play in a logged-out browser window, it cannot be extracted.

Is it legal to download Facebook Reels?

Download your own Reels freely. For other creators, get permission — republishing their content breaches Facebook's terms and copyright law.
