Instagram on iPhone downloader FAQ

Why can't I save Instagram videos directly in the app?

Instagram's own Save button only bookmarks a post inside the app. It does not put a file on your iPhone, which is why a browser-based downloader is needed.

Where does the downloaded video go on iPhone?

Safari puts it in the Files app under Downloads on My iPhone. Open Files, tap the video, tap Share, then Save Video to move it into Photos.

Do I need an app or a shortcut?

No. Everything happens in Safari or Chrome on iOS. There is no app to install and no Shortcuts automation to configure.

Does this work on iPad?

Yes, the steps are identical in Safari on iPadOS.

Can I save a Reel to my camera roll?

Yes. Reels, feed videos and public Stories all download as MP4 files you can move into Photos.

Safari asked whether to allow the download — is that normal?

Yes. iOS asks for confirmation the first time a site downloads a file. Tap Download to continue.

Can I download from a private account on iPhone?

No. Device and browser make no difference — private profiles cannot be reached.

Is saving Instagram videos on iPhone legal?

Saving your own content is fine. For other people's posts, get permission before saving or resharing.
